U.S. Army Capt. Alexander Kase, a 2016 Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumnus who earned his degree in international studies from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, was selected as the Hokie Hero for Saturday’s football game against Marshall.

The Hokie Hero program honors corps alumni who are deployed. Recipients are highlighted by Bill Roth and Mike Burnop during their radio broadcast of Hokie football games, on the Corps of Cadets website, and in the Corps Review alumni magazine.

Kase is currently deployed with the 10th Mountain Division in Iraq. As a cadet, he was a member of Lima Company and Echo Company. During his time in Army ROTC at Virginia Tech, he participated in Ranger Company, which is known for running the game ball around campus before the homecoming football game. Kase is married to his wife, Brittany, a 2016 corps alumna, and together they have three children.
