Sarah Castle has been named the division director of human resources for the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences effective Feb. 22.

She previously worked at Virginia Tech from 2005-14, serving in a range of human resources (HR) roles, including faculty specialist and new employee orientation coordinator. Her final position was as human resources manager for the former Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute.

She will report to both Laura Belmonte, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, and Curtis Mabry, assistant vice president of consulting and strategic services in Human Resources.

“Sarah is a skilled and experienced professional with a deep regard for Virginia Tech and its values,” said Bryan Garey, vice president for human resources. “We are pleased to welcome her back to the Hokie Nation.”

Castle has more than 20 years of hands‐on experience across all tactical and strategic functional areas of human resources. She most recently served as director of human resources for Precigen Inc.

She received a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Kentucky.

“Sarah’s extensive experience in human resources and knowledge of Virginia Tech will be great assets to the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences,” said Belmonte. “I look forward to working with her as she takes on this new role.”
