Stacey Baker Farley, a personnel manager in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech for 21 years, passed away on Jan. 11.



She was born on Jan. 5, 1969 in Giles County to Wallace and Linda Doyle Baker.



Farley was a beloved staff member in the college, and she was active with the college’s staff association. She also served on a university-wide staff task force.



“Stacey was a valued colleague and friend to all she worked with at Virginia Tech,” said LaTawnya Burleson, executive assistant in the Division of Information Technology at Virginia Tech who formerly worked in the college. “She was kind, welcoming and quick to assist anyone in need with a smile on her face. A strong advocate for staff in CLAHS and across the university, she never hesitated in volunteering her time to the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences Staff Association. I will forever miss Stacey’s unwavering friendship, incredible humor, and warm hugs.”



Farley of Ripplemead, Virginia, enjoyed her family, cooking, fishing, hiking, and playing softball.


She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Elma Troutt Baker, Guy Grover Baker, and Lillie Harless.


Farley is survived by her parents; her husband, Marvin Farley, Jr; daughter, Madison Ruth Farley; brother, Rob Baker (Noah Price); uncle, Paul “Chappy” Baker (Tammie); cousins, Amy Mutter, Krista Baker, and Adam Baker; and best friend, Lisa Evans Harris.
