Whether you plan to write the next great novel, have a passion for reading, or you want to sharpen your professional and technical skills, the Department of English has a program for you.
Our three majors, creative writing, literature and language, professional and technical writing, allow you to follow your own interests and talents. The pre-professional tracks in our literature and language major provide you with top-notch support for entering law or education.
We also offer four minors, that encourage students to experience the richness of language and literature, develop creativity, and enhance professional skills. These options include: creative writing, literature, professional and technical writing, and language sciences.
Our three graduate programs provide graduates with the opportunity to specialize in their areas of interest by pusuing an M.A. in English, an M.F.A. in creative writing, or a Ph.D. in rhetoric and writing.
Our talented faculty members specialize in a wide array of topics, and they're always mentoring students with independent research projects of their own. Classes are small and highly engaged, and our close-knit students hold regular social and service events.
