Degree Options
You get to decide. The major in Career and Technical Education offers three options to tailor your degree to your future goals:
- Business and Information Technology Education
- Family and Consumer Sciences Education
- Marketing Education
Business and Information Technology Education
You will explore the fields of marketing, accounting, finance, economics, and management. Through courses in secondary teaching methods and practicum experiences, practice instructional strategies to teach students a wide variety of skills, including personal finance, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
Marketing Education
You will be prepared to provide instruction, support, management, and leadership to secondary education students. Complete courses in advertising, consumer behavior, retail management and accounting along with courses in secondary teaching methods and CTE program management.
Family and Consumer Sciences Education
Focused on people-centered sciences, you will take coursework in human development, nutrition, design, fashion, textiles, consumer trends, and financial literacy. Pedagogical course work like teaching methods and in-classroom field experiences will equip you with the skills needed to teach students in early childhood education, culinary arts, visual arts and design, and more.
