Inclusion and Diversity Statement

Monacan Village Historical Marker

The Academy of Transdisciplinary Studies, which is housed on the main Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, acknowledges that the Tutelo/Monacan people are the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work and that was acquired through the Morrill Act. Academy members seek to be responsible stewards of this space, honoring that heritage.

The academy opposes all expressions of bigotry and hate. We reject language that denigrates others based on any identity category, including race, religion, sexual orientation, gender or gender expression, immigration status, ethnicity, ability, socioeconomic status, age, or body type.

We are committed to critique and to work proactively to counter individual and structural oppression to create a safe environment for all.
