President’s Message

I'm excited to serve as the 2024-2025 President of the CLAHS Staff Association. Our association is a reflection of the amazing individuals that make up this college, and, together, we’re committed to fostering a meaningful and impactful year.

We have several committees hard at work to offer a wide array of services to our staff and beyond. The Special Projects Committee is dedicated to upholding Virginia Tech's Ut Prosim motto and finding ways to support our broader Blacksburg and New River Valley community. The Scholarship Committee is invested in fundraising efforts to provide scholarships to deserving CLAHS students. The Events Committee is entrusted with planning numerous events for staff to gather together throughout the year. This allows us opportunities to catch up with old friends and colleagues, as well as meet new people and put faces to the names we may be emailing all of the time!

We’re also here to provide you with helpful resources to succeed. As a staff member, you can apply for professional development funding of up to $600. The Professional Development Committee oversees these requests, and also works with the college to provide further training opportunities. 

Engagement is the driving force behind our Association's success. By participating actively — whether that means attending an event, contributing to a scholarship fundraiser, or serving on a committee — we can learn from each other, collaborate on new ideas, and strengthen the connections that make us a strong, supportive community.
