Captain Christmas Fou

Captain C. Victoria Fou is from Siutu, Savai’i, Western Samoa. She graduated from the University of Oregon in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Upon graduation, she gained full U.S. citizenship and commissioned as an Adjutant General Officer in 2018, she then attended the Adjutant General Basic Officer Leaders Course (BOLC).

CPT Fou has served in a variety of staff and leadership positions. Her assignments include serving under Eighth Army, United States Forces Korea, as a Platoon Leader in the 19th Human Resources Company at Camp Humphreys, and as the Enlisted Personnel Services (EPS) Officer on the Division G1 Staff, 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command (ESC) at Camp Henry. During this time, she was also selected to serve as the Executive Officer for Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 19th ESC. Following her tour in Korea, she was assigned to Fort Jackson, South Carolina, where she served as the Battalion S1 Officer-in-Charge (OIC) and Adjutant for Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, U.S. Army Training Center.

After completing the Adjutant General Captain’s Career Course, CPT Fou was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, at Fort Hood, Texas, where she served as the Battalion S1 OIC. She completed one National Training Center rotation and deployed to Lithuania in support of Operation European Assure, Deter, and Reinforce.

Her awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Superior Unit Award (1 OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (1 OLC), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Norwegian Foot March Badge (Bronze), Lithuanian Armed Forces Medal, and Basic Instructor Badge. Additional schools and courses include Combat Level 1, Common Faculty Development Instructor Course and Human Resource Administrator Course.

CPT Fou currently serves as the Battalion S1 OIC and Assistant Professor of Military Science at Virginia Tech and Radford University. She is married to David, a graduate of Virginia Tech and a current student at the University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry. They have one dog, Kava and are looking forward to welcoming a new addition soon. Her husband’s Hokie roots played a key role in inspiring her to join the New River Battalion family.
