Carlisle Shealy

Carlisle Shealy is the Assistant Director at the Center for Gerontology at Virginia Tech and an extension specialist with Virginia Cooperative Extension. She completed her graduate education at Virginia Tech earning her Master of Public Health in 2017 and a Ph.D. in Environmental Design and Planning in 2021 with a strong focus of her research on older adults in senior living communities. Dr. Shealy has a deep interest in end-of-life decision making and surrogate decision making, specifically in rural areas. She has recently contributed to and served as project manager to projects on elder abuse, guardianship, and advance care planning both at the state and national level. Dr. Shealy leads collaborative workshops across Virginia on aging in place training both older adults and other colleagues on independent aging and advance care planning.
