Admissions Requirements
To apply to the graduate program, students must submit the Virginia Tech Graduate School online application.
Current and Admitted Students at Virginia Tech
Graduate students accepted to any other graduate program at Virginia Tech are eligible to be admitted to the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Administration on the basis of acceptance into their home department. However, space in the Certificate program is limited.
Applicants New to Virginia Tech
A qualified student who wishes to enter Virginia Tech to obtain a graduate certificate, without being enrolled in a degree program, may apply for graduate admission to Graduate Certificate Status using the graduate school online application. The Graduate School requires a GPA of 3.0 for admission to Certificate Status and official transcripts must be submitted.
Enrollment for the certificate program may be limited based on class size.
You will need the following to apply:
Transcripts
Include a web printout or scanned copy of your transcripts with your online application, then arrange for an official copy to be sent to us after you receive an offer of admission.
Letter of Interest and Curriculum Vitae
The School of Education requires a letter of interest (250–500 words) along with a copy of your most recent curriculum vitae.
In your letter of interest, include the following:
(a) your past work experience in Higher Education;
(b) your long-range education and career objectives; and
(c) your reasons for completing the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Administration.
Applying as an International Student
International students may be required to submit TOEFL scores, immigration documents, and other additional materials with their application.
We require a minimum TOEFL score of 90 (IBT) or an IELTS score of 6.5 for admission. Test scores should be sent to us using ETS institution code 5859.
Any Additional Information and Supporting Material
You are welcome to supplement your admissions materials with any additional information that would be useful in evaluation of your application.
