Admissions Requirements

To apply to the graduate program, students must submit the Virginia Tech Graduate School online application.

Domestic Application

Admissions Requirements

  • Submit an application completed through the Graduate School (including application fee).
  • Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; the MS teacher licensure concentration requires a bachelor's degree related to the CTE endorsement area for which license is sought.
  • Submit two official transcripts of all undergraduate work:
    • To: Virginia Tech Graduate Admissions, 120 Graduate Life Center at Donaldson Brown, Mail Code (0325), 155 Otey Street NW, Blacksburg, Virginia 24061
    • To: Office of Academic Programs, School of Education, 226 War Memorial Gymnasium (0313), 370 Drillfield Dr, Blacksburg, Virginia 24061
  • Have earned at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) for the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work for regular admission status or 2.5 GPA to 2.99 GPA for provisional admission status.
  • Have career goals consistent with the degree offered by CTE.
  • Demonstrate commitment to time requirements of the CTE program.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
  • For applicants who plan to be enrolled in the teaching licensure concentration, submit a passing score for Praxis Core assessment test at least by the end of the first semester enrolled.
