Anne Brown

Ann Brown is the Director of Strategic Communications for the University Libraries at Virginia Tech, where she leads communications and marketing strategies that amplify the University Libraries’ role in research, learning, and public engagement. In this role, she oversees internal and external messaging, brand alignment, and communications campaign development to connect with campus, regional, and global audiences.

Prior to her current position, Brown served as Director of Advancement Communications at Radford University, where she developed and executed strategic communications initiatives in support of fundraising, alumni relations, and institutional branding. She also served as the managing editor of the university’s alumni magazine.

Earlier in her career, Brown gained hands-on experience in television news as a field producer and reporter. There, she built skills in deadline-driven on-air storytelling and newsroom operations. 

Brown has received multiple awards and honors throughout her career from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, Western Virginia American Advertising Association, Public Relations Society of America, and Advertising Federation of the Roanoke Valley.

Brown’s work bridges practice and education. Previously, she taught public relations writing courses at Radford University. Currently, she teaches media writing courses in the School of Communication at Virginia Tech.

Brown holds a master’s degree in corporate and professional communication from Radford University and a bachelor’s degree in speech communication and broadcasting from Millersville University.
