Shawn Stevenson Jr. was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, by his parents Shawn and Juliasena Stevenson Sr.. Following graduation from Mayfield High School in 2013, he moved to California to pursue higher education. Shawn began his undergraduate journey at Moreno Valley College, where he served in various student organizations. He was a student representative for the Renaissance Scholars Program, Renaissance A2MEND Mentoring Program, and Umoja Community Education Foundation. After three years, he obtained four degrees across a variety of studies.

After completing his general education studies, Shawn transferred to San Francisco State University in 2017 to obtain a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism. He continued his involvement within the campus community becoming a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. in Spring 2018. His additional student organization memberships include the National Pan-Hellenic Council, serving as Vice President, the President’s Leadership Fellows Program, Black Student Union, and College Students in Broadcasting. Shawn concluded his undergraduate studies abroad in Aarhus, Denmark at Danmarks Medie- og Journalisthøjskole in the International Video Journalism cohort.

To launch his professional career, Shawn started as a freelance Staff Writer in November 2019 with Sports Illustrated, writing columns about the Cleveland Browns. Additionally, his early corporate career began as a National Sales Assistant with Audacy, Inc. (formerly Entercom) in Cleveland. Shawn held both roles until July 2021, as he eventually transitioned into the marketing space with the National Football League. He served as a Social Media Coordinator with the Cleveland Browns for two seasons.

Nearly two years later, Shawn took his marketing experience to the collegiate space joining Virginia Tech Athletics as Director, Digital Strategy & Mobile Communications. He served as the project manager for the end-to-end digital transformation of the Virginia Tech Athletics digital ecosystem. He was responsible for strategically redeveloping their mobile app and website, with a focus on optimizing the revenue funnel, increasing digital touchpoints, and driving measurable fan engagement. Shawn also engaged directly with Virginia Tech Football writing over 200 articles, and operated as the primary contact for digital sponsorships with PlayFly Sports.

Shawn is actively pursuing professional development opportunities with Virginia Tech School of Communication. He is on track to obtain his Master of Arts in Reputation Management with additional focus on the impact of Artificial Intelligence in business contexts.
