Judaic Studies Program
The Judaic Studies program at Virginia Tech engages in the scholarly exploration of Jewish life and its relevance to contemporary society. It also fosters public engagement with Jewish culture, history, and religion.
The Judaic Studies program offers courses and a minor. Students will study Jewish history, culture, religion, languages, and thought. They will examine the diverse contributions of Jewish communities to global civilizations and explore the ways Jewish traditions and ideas have addressed questions of ethics, identity, justice, and community.
Reflecting Virginia Tech’s interdisciplinary strengths, the program brings together faculty from across the humanities, social sciences, and related fields to examine Jewish experiences, ideas, and traditions from multiple scholarly perspectives.
Virginia Tech’s program in Judaic Studies is supported by generous gifts from Malcolm and Diane Rosenberg, Charles L. and Florine H. Harowitz, and the Levy Family.
