To apply to the graduate program, students must submit the Virginia Tech Graduate School online application.
Current and Admitted Students at Virginia Tech
Graduate students accepted to any other graduate program at Virginia Tech will be admitted to the religious studies graduate certificate program on the basis of their acceptance to their home department.
Applicants New to Virginia Tech
Recommendations for admission to the certificate program for non-degree-seeking students will be made by our Graduate Admissions Committee, based on transcripts, letter of interest, and the minimal requirements specified in the Graduate Catalogue. These admissions criteria differ from our regular degree admissions in that they require neither the GRE nor letters of recommendation.
What You'll Need
Include a scanned copy of your college transcripts with your online application, then arrange for an official copy to be sent to us after you receive an offer of admission.
Letter of Interest and Curriculum Vitae
A letter of interest (250-500 words) is required by the Deparment of Religion and Culture along with your latest Curriculum Vitae.
Applying as an International Student
International students might be required to submit TOEFL scores, immigration documents, and other additional materials with their application.
Any Additional Information/Supporting Material
Applicants are welcome to submit any additional information with application material that would be useful in evaluation of your application.
Non-degree applicants and former students re-admitting must pay a non-refundable $25 application fee, though check to see if you qualify for a waiver or reduced fee.

However, for the Commonwealth Campus program only, there is an Expedited admissions option that allows you to apply up to one week before classes begin. This admission is only good for one semester and you will need to reapply to take additional classes, so we recommend that you use this only if you have missed the regular application deadline. The Expedited application uses the same online process as the regular application.
