Nahyun Kim is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Adult Development and Aging area at Virginia Tech. She is broadly interested in family relationships and dynamics in middle and later adulthood. Currently, her work focuses on family life events such as caregiving and family bereavement, and the role of social networks—both online and offline—in helping individuals navigate these transitions. She is also interested in how cumulative experiences across the life course shape psychological and physical health in mid-to-later adulthood. Ultimately, she aims to understand how relational and social resources can reduce psychological distress and support meaningful, healthy daily living among middle-aged and older adults.
