Manasi Shankar is currently the doctoral fellow at Chicago Center for Family Health, completing her final year in the PhD program. She is a licensed professional counselor, nationally certified counselor (NCC) and trained in EMDR and on the path towards CBT certification. She is a member of AAMFT, NBCC, and NCFR. At her internship site, she works with individuals, couples and families living with chronic illness and/or disability utilizing an integrative health approach to offer individual and relational therapy services. Her dissertation and research interests focus on family systemic perspectives of disability in the field of MFT and the experiences of growing up with parental disability, through a family resilience approach. After graduation, she hopes to continue her research on strengthening family systemic perspectives of disability experiences.
