Master of Science Degree in Career and Technical Education    

The Master of Science Degree in Career and Technical Education (CTE) is designed to prepare individuals to become middle school and secondary CTE teachers (Initial Licensure Program) or enhance the professional development of practicing CTE teachers and provisionally licensed CTE teachers.

The professional development for practicing teachers concentration is intended to assist current teachers in Career and Technical Education to enhance their knowledge in their given fields and promote professional enrichment.  The primary aim in this concentration is to help CTE teachers become better educators and to provide opportunities to invigorate their joy for teaching.

The program areas for the professional development for practicing & the provisionally licensed teachers are:

  • Family and Consumer Sciences
  • Marketing Education
  • Health and Medical Sciences
  • Trade and Industrial Education

The concentration can be completed on the Virginia Tech campus through a combination of online courses and interactive video conferencing courses.
