Student Organizations

History students at Virginia Tech run an award-winning chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the History Honor Society, as well as the History Club. Check them out on Facebook.

The History Graduate Students Association offers an orientation for new history graduate students and plans social events throughout the year, including tailgate parties during football season. They sponsor a weekly “History Table" and organize professional development activities, often attending nearby conferences as a group.

Since 1997, the History Graduate Students Association has hosted the Brian Bertoti Innovative Perspectives in History Conference. The conference draws students from throughout the country to present their work.
