Scholarships and Awards

In addition to scholarships offered by the university and the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, we offer program-specific scholarships in consumer studies, fashion merchandising and design, property management, and residential environments and design.

AHRM sholarships

Mary B. Settle Scholarship - Recipients are rising juniors or seniors in consumer studies with academic achievement and leadership potential. Preference given to students interested in a career in consumer education.

Supplemental materials to include:

1. Why have you chosen to study Consumer Studies?

2. What are your career objectives for the next five years?

3. List any academic honors and awards.

4. List any college activities, community activities, and/or leadership positions held.

5. List any work experience in the property management industry.

6. List any previous scholarships you have received at Virginia Tech.

Sutherland-Purdy Endowed Scholarship - Recipients are enrolled in a major in the Apparel, Housing, and Resource Management Department. Preference given to a fashion merchandising and design major from Southwest Virginia with academic achievement and financial need.

Oris Glisson Scholarship - Recipients are undergraduate students in the fashion merchandising and design major.

Bridget D. Anibal Memorial Scholarship – Recipients are undergraduate students majoring in fashion merchandising and design; awards based on academic merit, demonstrated design skills, and demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to students from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

VHDA Hokie Memorial Scholarship - Recipients are undergraduate students enrolled in property management, Virginia residents, and have a minimum "B" GPA. Preference will be given to previous recipients who continue to qualify in subsequent academic years.

James F. Kelly Scholarship - Recipients are undergraduate students in property management with demonstrated academic achievement, good character, financial need, and leadership potential. Preference will be given to recipients who continue to qualify in subsequent years.

Richard Bighinatti / Beacon Residential Management RPM Endowed Scholarship- Recipients are undergraduates in the property management major.

AvalonBay RPM Scholarship - Recipients are undergraduates in the property management major. Preference given to students based upon financial need, relevant family circumstances, academic achievement, extracurricular leadership, and community service.

Alex Jackiw / RPM Board Chairman Scholarship - Recipients are undergraduates in the property management major.

Russ Marshall Memorial RPM Endowed Scholarship - Recipients are students in the property management major. Preference given to students based upon financial need, any relevant family circumstances, academic achievement, extracurricular leadership, and residency of North Carolina or South Carolina.

E. Carlton Wilton, Sr. RPM Scholarship - Recipients are undergraduates in the property management major.

IREM Scholarship - Recipients are undergraduates in the property management major. Preference given to students based upon extracurricular leadership and community service. Paige Woolwine Central Virginia IREM Chapter 38 - Recipients are undergraduates in the property management major and of good character.

Rosemary C. Goss RPM Scholarship - Recipients are undergraduates in the property management major. Southern Management Corporation / Edward S. Paylor, Jr. Scholarship - Recipients are undergraduates in the property management major. Preference given to students based upon financial need, any relevant family circumstances, academic achievement, extracurricular leadership, and residency of Maryland or Virginia.

Joanne and Roby Monday RPM Scholarship - Recipients are undergraduates in the property management program.

Dean Janet M. Johnson RPM Honored Student Scholarship - Recipients are undergraduates in the property management major.

Residential Property Management Board Member Scholarships - Recipients are undergraduates in the property management major.

Herb Adrian Memorial Scholarship – Recipients are rising juniors or seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA and interest in multifamily housing.

Supplemental materials to include:

Residential Environments and Design Scholarship- Recipients are rising seniors in the residential environments and design major, focused on a career in the Kitchen and Bath industry, and chosen on the basis of their application and academic achievement (minimum 3.0 GPA).

Savannah S. Day Scholarship – Recipients are chosen on the basis of academic merit and leadership potential. Preference is for students in the residential environments and design major.
