Sarah Jarrett

Sarah has over 20 years of experience in higher education, with a background that includes residence life, admissions, student activities, student leadership development, career services, and academic advising across a range of institutions. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Art History from Emory University and a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Miami University (Ohio). Sarah joined Virginia Tech in 2023.

Sarah values academic advising as a way to bring together the many skills she has developed throughout her career. She enjoys helping students explore their interests and identify clear paths toward their academic and career goals, particularly as future educators and human services professionals. Sarah encourages students to take an active role in their academic planning and to make meaningful connections between their coursework and real-world experiences. She is especially knowledgeable about the teacher licensure process and works with students from their first semester to demystify and plan for this important milestone.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys baking, gardening, reading, tackling home improvement projects, and spending time with family and friends. Her newest adventure is learning how to play the cello.
