Christina Minford

Christina joined the Department of Political Science in 2026 after spending the previous 11 years advising students at Virginia Tech. Throughout her career, she has supported students from a wide range of backgrounds, taught First-Year Experience and transfer student success courses, and developed programs that promote student belonging and academic success. She earned her bachelor's degree in Business Administration and her master's degree in College Counseling and Student Development from North Carolina State University. Christina enjoys helping students navigate their college experience with confidence.

Christina believes the best advising relationships are built on trust, curiosity, and genuine connection. She enjoys helping students explore their interests, navigate challenges, and identify opportunities that align with their goals and values. Her advising philosophy is rooted in developmental and proactive advising, with an emphasis on helping students feel supported while empowering them to take ownership of their educational journey.

When she's not working, Christina enjoys getting lost in a good book, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She also loves discovering new coffee shops and spending time with her three Russian Blue cats (Cardamom, Jasmine & Clove).
