Andrew Dolbin-MacNab

Andrew Dolbin-MacNab joined the CLAHS advising team after serving in a variety of student support and higher education roles at Virginia Tech. His background includes academic advising, student coaching, and leadership in programs focused on student success, engagement, and well-being. Before joining CLAHS, he worked in Student Affairs and Residential Well-being, where he helped lead initiatives that supported students’ academic growth, personal development, and connection to campus. He brings a student-centered perspective shaped by experience in both direct advising and broader program leadership.

Andrew approaches advising as both a practical and developmental partnership, helping students navigate requirements while also thinking about their goals, strengths, and next steps. He especially enjoys helping students make sense of options, overcome obstacles, and build confidence in their decision-making. He leans on a coaching-minded, encouraging approach that helps students feel supported while also taking ownership of their path.

Outside of work, Andrew enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking and eating good food, traveling, and being outdoors. He also loves live music and is always trying to make it to as many concerts and music festivals as possible. He brings that same curiosity, energy, and appreciation for meaningful experiences and personal connection into both his personal life and professional work.
