Amanda Weaver

Amanda serves as Director of Advising for the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. She joined Virginia Tech in 2018 and has nearly 15 years of experience in higher education. In her role, Amanda leads the college's advising team and collaborates with academic units and campus partners to support undergraduate student success and strategic advising initiatives. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership and a College Teaching Certificate from William & Mary as well as a master's degree in College Student Development from Appalachian State University.

Amanda approaches advising as a collaborative partnership that encourages students to reflect on their goals, explore possibilities, and make informed decisions about their academic paths. She works closely with advisors to foster a thoughtful, student-centered advising experience and values the continual learning that comes from working alongside students and advising professionals. As a first-generation college graduate from a small liberal arts college, she believes strongly in the transformative potential of interdisciplinary learning for both individual students and the communities they will impact.

Amanda enjoys spending time with her family, getting outdoors, reading, and chatting over coffee. She also enjoys tackling home organization and improvement projects, watching college football, and listening to true crime podcasts.
