When I arrived at Virginia Tech for my orientation, the Army recruiter asked if I wanted to be a Soldier. I wasn't sure about the army, but to stay in school full-time I knew I would need a scholarship. He told me if I did well my first semester, I could earn one. I trusted him and ended up earning a four-year scholarship, which allowed me to stay at Virginia Tech after my first semester and eventually comission into the U.S. Army.
