Faculty You'll Love

Our award-winning research faculty have built a reputation among students for being approachable, engaging, and challenging as they seek to help you grow your language skills. You can expect to grow in your understanding of both the language and culture you study.

Careers and Internships for Your Future

Proficiency in one or multiple non-native languages will make you highly competitive in an increasingly global job market. Our students have found careers in international development, non-profits, politics, and business.

Scholarships and Awards

In addition to scholarships offered by the university and the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, we offer program-specific scholarships in several languages. Our department is also affiliated with the Department of Defense's Project GO, a program that has scholarships for ROTC students that fully cover study abroad for the purpose of learning Russian, Chinese, or Arabic.

Undergraduate Research

You can research independently, publish your work, and present at conferences. We have many opportunities that offer access to historical collections, archives, and modern points of interest. From Chinese approaches to elder care to exploring religious syncretism in ancient Rome, you can pursue your interests through undergraduate research.

Study Abroad

Study abroad opportunities offer an extraordinary learning experience. We encourage you to take advantage of several programs focused on language enhancement, like our faculty-led immersion programs, as well as others offered by the Global Education Office. We want to help you engage in your language and culture of study.

Exciting Student Organizations

All of our programs provide opportunities for you to get involved beyond the classroom. Our student organizations include the German Culture Club, Le Cercle Francophone, the Classics Club, Eta Sigma Phi, Delta Phi Alpha, and other great opportunities to learn more about the culture of the language you're studying.
